Abstract
On many primary schools only half an hour is used for traffic education in the form of learning the meaning of traffic signs and traffic regulations, which is not enough and not very efficient. The programmes should be based on education in practice if they will contribute to their purpose to decrease the lack of traffic safety for children. The schools can have an important function in this process, but the participation of the parents is essential to obtain the wanted effects. The education- programmes should be aimed on showing safe behaviour in traffic.
