Abstract

A description of a system introduced in Paris, where bus transport has certain reserved road lanes. These case be divided into two groups: parallel to the other traffic, and opposite to the other traffic; and further each in short trajects (e.g. at traffic lights and roundabouts) and longer trajects. Some difficulties were experienced, of a legal and administrative nature, of a social nature, of a technical nature. But experience shows that increases have been obtained in average service speed and service regularity. These results are tabulated and statistically evaluated.
