Abstract

A moped system of urban and interurban transportation appeared at Konni near the Nigerian border. This mode, almost nonexistent in other cities in Niger, is mostly used by the working population. The main factors influencing its use are gender, the occupational status and the place of residence. Local authorities have unsuccessfully tried to regulate this service but it remains within the informal sector, with a very unstable profitability. (A) The English title of the paper is: "Konni's kabu-kabu : development factor or temporary answer?"
