Abstract

The aim of the project is to find a new method to reduce the number of accidents and incidents at red lights. Hence, a developed method (Super-LHOVRA) has been installed in an intersection. The traffic signalled controlled intersection is monitored via a digital video recorder, which records every detected vehicle jumping the red lights. With this new monitoring technique, measuring errors have been avoided. The field test has shown that the method (Super-LHOVRA) is a big success. The number of heavy vehicles jumping the red lights has decreased to almost zero.
