Abstract

This paper will consider the concept of "level of service" introduced in 1965 by the Highway Research Board of the U.S.A. in their new version of the Highway Capacity Manual. It will then examine an example of a two-lane inter-urban road to see what light it throws on the problem, with particular reference to the effect of roadside development.
