Abstract

This report summarizes survey results obtained from a study on high-risk drivers conducted by the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) of the State of Maryland. The survey objective was to obtain information on current and proposed licensing and renewal policies of MVAs across the United States, and their effectiveness in identifying and mitigating high-risk driving behavior. The survey was distributed to the various states via mail. The District of Columbia and all states, excluding Alaska, California, Delaware and Wisconsin responded to the survey. The survey questionnaire consisted of 14 multiple choice questions and one question that asked for information such as brochures, manuals, and study reports that were used for identifying, testing, and retraining and counseling suspected impaired drivers.
