The shape of the reflection indicatrix of a road surface may be characterized by two independent parameters, the size of the indicatrix may be accounted for by employing the luminance coefficient as a scale factor. The paper deals with the relationship between reflection properties and composition of top layers. Cement concrete top layers and asphalt concrete top layers with at least 30% of the total mineral aggregate consisting of white chippings, conform to the requirements of photometric preference.
