Abstract

A model for an individual who wishes to make life and death decisions on his own behalf or who wishes to de-legate them to his agents is developed. It is shown that an individual can use this model if he is willing to trade between the quality and the quantity of his life. The model can be used to determine both what an individual would have to be paid to assume a given risk and what he would pay to avoid a given risk.
