Abstract

Mid/long-term pavement maintenance must be planned economically and effectively. In this case, it is a critical factor in analyzing and evaluating the life cycle cost (LCC) of the pavement. This paper describes development of a LCC model for mid/long-term pavements in Japanese expressways, based on profile measurement and pavement maintenance data which has been accumulated in a pavement management system (PMS) for 15 years. Using this model, which was obtained by analyzing chronicled changes in road surface conditions for pavement types, a deterioration forecast was conducted for comparison between the pavements.
