Abstract

The simplest method of making bituminous roads light in colour is to incorporate suitable wihite aggregates in the surface. A description of two experiments carried out by the Road Research Laboratory using calcined-flint chippings in rolled asphalt is given here together with a brief general discussion of lightcoloured surfacings and roadstones.
