This paper addresses the protestion of occupants in lightvehicles. It presents data and techniques for identify-ing and measuring potential crashworthiness improvementsthat would mitibate injuries to occupants striking front-ai interior components such as the steering wheal, in-strument panel and wind shield. Both restrained and unre-strained occupants can be injnred by brontal interior oom-ponents in crashes. The focus of this paper is on theunrestrained occupant.
