Abstract

Lighting research at TRRL is described. The authors address relationships between roadway lighting and accidents, and also look at conflicts as an indicator of improvement. Photometric studies on road surfaces wet and dry, are being made to suggest improvements in night-driving on wet roads. A number of vehicle head-lighting systems are being studied to determine glare reduction techniques.
