Abstract

Line elements are mathematical formulations that describe subjective color differences in terms of model characteristics. An attempt is made to discover a trend in their development- a trend that is, interestingly, marked by gains in insight into the mechanism of color vision, rather than by distinct improvements in the description of color discrimination data.
