Abstract

Over the last few years, pavement design methods have evolved from empirical methods to analytical methods. These methods involve the analytical determination of the pavement response, (expressed in stresses and strains), to the applied traffic loading. At present, structural design methods are being developed that involve translation of the pavement response into long term pavement performance. An essential role in this development is played by accelerated loading testing of full scale test pavements. This paper describes the development of the linear tracking apparatus - LINTRACK, which is presently being built at the Road and Railroad Research Laboratory of the Delft University of Technology.
