Abstract

In a comparison of the most diverse display techniques for automotive application, the best-suited display appears to be the liquid crystal twisted nematic cell. This paper contains a functional description of such a liquid crystal display and a discussion of the still unsolved problems specific to automotive application. The overall concepts of display design and drive systems are examined.
