Abstract

One of the cooperative approaches is to use infrastructure to support andenable in-vehicle applications. The major idea is that the infrastructurewill provide additional, complementary content to the in-vehicle device next to already used sources like vehicle-sensors or other information transmitted immediately by car to car communication. The infrastructure shoulddeliver content that other road users are not aware of. The infrastructure plays the role as new content source. This approach will enable new content profiles, new communication chains and processes for data management along the road that can be used in future. The main research areas for new content profiles, the vision of local dynamic maps and the main obstacles that will be solved in the coming years in cooperative systems projects especially in SAFESPOT are described.
