Abstract

This article describes an in-car warning system based on standard vehicle components as radio receivers and navigation systems. By utilising digital broadcast and the further developed TPEG-protocol, it is possible to warn drivers against hazards which are directly related to his driving route. In a regional project in Bavaria, called DIWA, investigations and developments are undertaken to improve the information management and local precision of messages generated by the local authorities.
