Abstract

The White Paper 'European Transport Policy for 2010: Time to decide' promotes a policy of mode shift towards transport modes with a good environmental performance and accessible spare capacities (e.g. short sea shipping) and the integration of the different transport modes in efficient door-to-door transport chains. In the Danube - Black Sea Region the greatest challenge is to strengthen the cooperation between maritime and hinterland transport. On one hand there are the physical transportation flows (Cargo flow) and on the other hand the implementation of information flows is crucial(Info flow). On the maritime side of physical transport flow the short sea shipping has to be linked "seamless" to the hinterland side of transportmodes (IWT, Shuttle Trains, Truck Services). In the field of inland waterway the VTS system has to be connected to the system of inland waterway navigation, so called: "River Information Services" (RIS). The tool used andpresented is IT monitoring and transport planning applications. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
