THIS PAPER DISCUSSES A THEORETICAL BASIS FOR THE LOGIT FUNCTION AND DEMONSTRATES ITS THEORETICAL CONNECTION WITH THE DISCRIMINANT FUNCTION. SOME CONSEQUENCES OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE DISCRIMINANT FUNCTION AND THE LOGIT MODEL, ESPECIALLY APPLICATIONS TO FITTING LOGIT MODELS ARE ALSO PRESENTED.(Author/publisher).
