Abstract

To gather information about the long term changes of accidents in Melbourne a comparative analysis of 1960 and 1981 is being undertaken. This paper presents some preliminary results of the study. The most frequent casualty accident type has changed from pedestrian in 1960 to "vehicles from adjacent approaches" in 1981. The top four accident types in 1960 were still the top four in 1981 but relative proportions had changed.
