This paper outlines the development and implementation of an integrated Road Safety Improvement Programme in Botswana. The programme was compiled by the Swedish National Road Consulting AB-SweRoad and funded by the Swedish International Development Authority. The programme and its road safety activities are presented and discussed. In particular the important roles of the fundraiser, the need for engagement of the recipient governmental organisations, the multisectoral approach and the internationality of the programme are stressed. A major feature of the programme was the training of local staff. Some early results of the programme are noted.
