Abstract

Since 1989 testsections have been constructed in the UK consisting of bituminous overlays on heavily trafficked jointed concrete roads. They comply with the requirements of the SHRP GPS-7B and SPS-6 experiments. The objective is to develop a design procedure. An overview is given of the road trials and results of the performance monitoring. Furthermore, the paper describes the procedure used to assign historical performance data of both flexible and rigid pavements to the LTPP experiment matrix. The data have been derived from ca 750 test sections constructed in the UK since the mid 1950's. This paper is also published as TRL Published Article PA3005/93.
