Abstract

CCTV surveillance cameras are an essential item of advanced traffic management systems. The company [MG]2 designed the first lowering system for multifunction surveillance cameras to prevent traffic congestion associated with lane closure for maintenance via bucket trucks. The camera-lowering device allows the entire camera and housing to be unlatched from its position on a pole and lowered to ground level on a stainless steel aircraft cable. Data and video cables are secure and remain inside the pole. Maintenance can be performed on the ground by one technician. Designers will be freed from the previous limitations on both mounting height and location. The first [MG]2 camera-lowering device was installed on Buckman Bridge, Jackson, Florida, USA.
