Abstract

Changes in society have an effect on people's behaviour. Decisions with regard to travel mode, time of day and route choice will change accordingly. This may result in a different approach to the interaction between spatial planning and traffic and transport. In the "Trends in Demand" project the social trends with the most significant effects on traffic, transport and spatial planning have been identified by means of a literature scan. A framework has been made in order to describe effects of social trends on (assumptions in the modelling of) traffic, transport and spatial planning. The next step in the study will be formulating and testing of hypotheses with regard to the interaction between spatial planning and traffic and transport. (A)
