Abstract

This paper gives a description of the common vision on public transport in The Hague region (Netherlands), developed by the following transportation companies: HTM, conneXXion and NS Reizigers. The paper describes the process of making a vision, and shows how firstly the network and then the nodes are developed. The result of the study is that a network named `Mainframe' on the scale of the 'Zuidvleugel' area is structuring for the task. This network has been worked out for The Hague region and connected with networks on different scale levels. On the basis of this knowledge, an insight is given into how can be dealt with the public transport streams in central The Hague. It appears that it is not very practical to concentrate all streams on the The Hague Central Station. A clear system with five transfer nodes that are connected frequently between each other is much better. All public transport systems will be connected at these five nodes. Finally, the nodes can be further elaborated, after having determined their place in the network and the traffic streams. (A)
