Abstract

Criteria and guidelines used in the design of freeway interchanges are reviewed. Conclusions and recommendations are stated. Freeway traffic control systems are examined in the context of interchange design and operation, after which a methodology for interchange evaluation using decision theory and trade-off analysis is presented. A bibliography of over 200 references accompanies this report. (See B 5559 for the appendices of the study).
