Abstract

Frontal collisions were examined from a crash worthiness point of view. Data from sled tests were used to show the relative effectiveness of various restraint systems and human survival limits in forward-facing deceleration. Present barrier crash occupant protection performance requirements were discussed together with several prototypes of passive restraint systems. Test on air bags showed the superiority of this type of passenger protection.
