Abstract

Located in the rolling hills of Southern California, the City of Mission Viejo covers 17 square miles with nearly 44 miles of arterial roads and has a population of 98,000. This community is served by MAN (Metropolitan Area Network), which provides a citywide computer and communications system to manage and integrate all of the City's automated services. Housed in the City's new library, this system grew out of the partnership of the City's Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) programs with various other City divisions. The key to the successful system implementation and on-going expansion was the selection and design of a system that could grow with the City's development of services. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
