Abstract
This article looks at the work of road safety pioneer extraordinaire, David Engwicht, and his concept of mental speed bumps. He is "against the car reducing the overall vibrancy of neighbourhood life" and wants to help people find a way to balance the need to move about and to have a sense of place.
