Abstract

This paper provides a framework for the ongoing management of ITS assets in Victoria. It also forms the basis for the development of guidelines enabling preparation of annual funding submissions. A key requirement of an ITS asset management strategy is the availability of an inventory of the assets to be covered by the strategy. On the basis of outcomes derived from an analysis of this data, performance targets can be established. They will be used in the ongoing development of this strategy. Within VicRoads, the routine and periodic maintenance of all ITS assets are currently undertaken by means of three year maintenance contracts managed by the respective VicRoads regions. The maintenance contract arrangements do not provide for rehabilitation of these assets. This document outlines the key issues and priorities for the development of proposals for the rehabilitation of ITS assets. It also sets out a risk assessment process that has been carried out to derive priorities for the allocation of resources and funding.
