Whereas a lot of research has been devoted to the interactions between drivers and the road infrastructure, how drivers manage their interactions with other drivers have not, to our knowledge, been studied very extensively. Managing interactions nevertheless plays an important role in safe driving in most road situations. The purpose of our research works is to provide a deeper analysis of the means for managing interactions between drivers in car-following situations and to produce a preliminary model. It should eventually contribute to identifying means of communication that could facilitate the management of these interactions. (Author/publisher)
