Abstract

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) have unique deployment characteristics that affect the way and timing that new and emerging technology should be integrated. It is important for ITS managers to understand the effects of dominant design, disruptive technology, innovation, standards, and industry trends on product, technology, and system lifecycles. Industry and related examples are provided to illustrate the importance of technologymanagement as it pertains to ITS communications infrastructures. In this context, considerations are discussed for deploying a new or upgrading an existing infrastructure. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
