Abstract

The regional engineering sections of the LTSA undertake a survey programme that assesses the effectiveness of the implementation of various safety standards by road controlling authorities. The 2003/2004 survey examined road markings. The survey was carried out in two parts: Part 1 used a questionnaire to look at the systems and procedures a road controlling authority has in place to deliver road markings; Part 2 was a field survey to measure the actual delivery from the user’s viewpoint. It provided a snapshot of road safety delivery at the date of the survey. The LTSA RSS 22 report presents the national results of the road markings survey.
