Abstract

By a correct carriageway marking information is given to the road users on which way they have to use the road, where they have to drive, where they have to stop and where they have to post their selves. The traffic image inside built-up area, has a different character than outside built-up areas, in particular for the driving speed. The dimension of and the distance between the carriageway marking is conditioned by the criterion if the speed is above or below 50 km/hour. Carriageway marking on road sections, on junctions and other markings (parking, bus lane, arrows etc) are discussed.
