Abstract

This paper presents a number of algorithms for decentralized deviation detection and re-scheduling in response to deviations that meets certain railway operational requirements. The approach taken in this project promotes dynamic allocation of railway elements through cooperation among multiple software agents. They can be distributed over one or several computers at a 'Radio Block Center' or can also be installed on the computer platform on board of trains. This configuration will enable operations to be planned and organized dynamically, when disturbances occur, and respond to fluctuations in demand in a more flexible and robust manner.
