Abstract

This paper presents, from a Toll Highway Operator perspective, the different roles that ETC technology plays in manual channeled collection projects and in multilane free flow projects. We will usually distinguish a complementary role in the first case from a core role in the second case. These roles bear to different problem sets in each kind of projects. Consequently, marketing strategies will differ in ETC penetration goals, targeted segments of users, and tag pricing, among other things.
