Abstract

In this report various types of counting processes possessing a Poisson nature have been considered. The main contribution of the paper lies in emphasizing the modelling aspects. Traffic counts form an important tool in traffic flow research and traffic responsive control systems. In modelling traffic systems with counting observations the counting process model arises in a very natural way.
