Abstract

The Maryland Medical Advisory Board was established to assist the Motor Vehicle Administrator in evaluating driver license applicants who are physically or mentally impaired to operate a motor vehicle safely. This paper outlines the Board's overall program, why it is successful and what its future plans are in terms of research implications of case studies of medically impaired drivers.
