Abstract

Numerical simulations of tunnel fires are made using fire research station's mathematical model of fire known as JASMINE. A one-step reaction model is used to characterise the combustion process. The model is validated against 200 litre petrol fire tests subject to conditions of either natural ventilation or pure longitudinal ventilation with an impressed air flow. The effects of ventilation are clearly demonstrated.
