Abstract

When the point of control between the product and the people becomes a point of friction, then the industrial designer has failed. On the other hand, if people are made safer, more efficient, more comfortable by contact with the product, then the designer has succeeded. Data in charts are given to forward this concepts under the headings: manual controls, pedals, visual displays, auditory signals, sensory signals, anthropometric conformity, safety, illumination and environment.
