Abstract

Four classes of driver error are defined in terms of their cause and in terms of their cause and in terms of the person who specifies the optimal behaviour. It is argued that the most profitable direction for research on driver errors is the study of departures from that optimal behaviour which is specified by the driver and which results from lack of information. Thereafter, a method for the measurement of such errors is presented.
