Abstract

This study has been an investigation in to the fundamentals of traffic movements and the evolvement of a criterion for evaluating the characteristics of traffic flow. Measuring and recording equipment has been developed and a dimensionless characterizing number has been derived. Elements to be measured are distance, time, change in speed and change in direction. In all kinds of weather and under all sorts and conditions of traffic.
