Abstract

Within the R & D project stadtinfokoeln, a procedure is currently being developed with the purpose of being able to furnish all visitors approaching the city of Cologne with topical information about the presently required collective travel times in Cologne of the MIT (motorized individual traffic) as well as of public transport. This shall enable visitors to take the best decision of how to get from the outskirts into the city Centre by making a choice between the means of transport into the city - public or individual - that is best suited for them. They will thus choose the means of transport that fits best into the particular situation and helps to avoid further traffic jams. Focus of this paper is on the development of a system for automatic and continuous measurement of the collective travel time of MIT in city road networks. For the covering abstract see ITRD E209471.
