This report introduces a new method of measuring road surface texture. The method is a stereophotographic one employing the elementary principles of photogrammetry for vertical photography. By giving a record of the surface profile is has the advantage over sand-patch and texture printing techniques of indicating the shape of projections in the surface as well as their size. Techniques of assessing the profile obtained by this method are discussed and one application of the work already carried out is described briefly.
