Abstract

This paper outlines CEDEX's data acquisition system for full scale roads. The system, which can automatically manage up to 300 sensors installed on the test road surfaces, consists of the sensors, signal processing and data storage systems and a computer application to filter out abnormal signals, determine the features of the signals, separate them into homogenous groups and process the data statistically. The paper also outlines the preliminary results of the latest test conducted on the track and presents various examples of measurements taken by sensor on the flexible surfaces. The test was a simulation of a traffic volume of six million trucks on six sections of the Spanish catalogue of road surfaces. The main conclusion showed the results of the inverse factor analysis of the tensile deformation response using the multi-layer theory within linear elasticity to be sufficiently close to the response obtained with sensors, at least for temperatures of 20C and below.
