On measures of correlation in time series of events.

Abstract

A relation between the correlation coefficients of orders up to and including n of a stationary sequence of events, and the variance of the distribution of the sum n+1consecutive intervals between the events, is applied to date on neuronal spike trains and heart beat interval sequences. A simple method for computing the serial correlation coefficient rn of order n is given.
