Abstract

It is reasonable to lay down noise limits for road traffic noise of between 60 and 65 dB(A) as a daytime limit for residential areas, and between 50 and 55 d B(A) as a night- time limit. Possibilities in highway operation, in road construction, in vehicle maintenance and driving, and in vehicle design to achieve these limits are briefly mentioned.
