Abstract

This study discusses a group of indices for the evaluation of road construction and improvements that will be the most suitable ones for a region surrounding a local city. To revise the measuring indices that the author had proposed in the previous study, questionnaire surveys and interviews were undertaken for relevant staff in the work office of the Prefecture and the public offices of the city/towns/villages in the region. Toyota Region was chosen as the objective region for this case study as there are 8 expressway interchanges and it is a typical local city of motorized Japan. As a result, 35 indices were finally summarized as the best measuring and evaluating indices for road construction and improvement in a local area.
