Abstract

A viscoelastic neck structure which has been developed for dummies in crash testing and that responds to impact environments in a manner similar to the human neck is described. The study has demonstrated the feasibility of satisfying the Mertz-Patrick response characteristics related to specific laboratory experiments designed to determine human neck behaviour.
