Abstract
It is useful to establish the nature and range of traffic in rural areas due to the increasing traffic intensities on such roads. This can be done with mechanical counting equipment, with pneumatic detection. These counting apparatus can be self registering. The results have to be quality controlled. On the hand of earlier experience suggestions are made for the improvement of reliability of these mechanical counts.
